12 June 2024  - 13 June 2024

Join us at this conference on 12 June 2024 in Birmingham!

Mike Fechner will discuss the following topics:

Using .NET Core with OpenEdge

OpenEdge 12.8 supports the usage of .NET Core API’s from OpenEdge runtimes on Windows and Linux. The session will introduce and demonstrate this new feature. We will discuss language, runtime and tooling support.

The session will showcase some example ABL based solutions using .NET core and will compare the performance of using .NET Core to native ABL solutions as well as .NET Framework.

Building ABL Clients based on Swagger

OpenAPI (typically called Swagger) is a standard for describing REST and typically JSON based API’s – a typical question when integrating REST based API’s into any application today is, where’s the Swaggerfile.

In this session we’ll introduce the basic concepts of OpenAPI and the Swaggerfile, tooling that can be used with this and what it takes use OpenAPI as a foundation to build ABL clients to access those API’s.

The SmartComponent Library

In this session we’ll provide an overview of the SmartComponent Library framework – the full-stack framework for OpenEdge application modernization. We’ll highlight features such as the exposing and consuming RESTful service as well as features to refactor existing ABL applications.
